The global pandemic has impacted everyone and it has had an effect on what and how we have delivered Natural Flood Management across the Ouse Catchment this year. We have however manage to continue the incredible work of previous years in creating a climate resilient landscape for both people and wildlife.

A few highlights from 2020/21:
  • We influenced approximately 537 hectares of land, equivalent to the size of 20,406 tennis courts.
  • 13,381 native shrubs/trees as cross-slope hedgerows (1,175m) and floodplain woodland (0.3 ha).
  • We reconnected 3.3 ha of  floodplain with watercourses, creating additional washland storage (storing ~6,600,000 L of water every flood event, at flood depths of 0.2 m)
  • Based on Natural England figures the trees and hedgerows planted will be storing 114.5 tonnes of carbon dioxide-equivalent per year, after 1 year of growth.
  • PLUS many more achievements!  These are detailed in the report linked below.

The above is just a selection of the work undertaken in 2020/21, the full annual report and the summary report go into great detail on what has been achieved and its impact.

Thank you to all our landowners, volunteers and partner organisation for their support in a challenging year for all.
